HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

by admin on November 23, 2011

Hello everyone. For my readers in the U.S., Thanksgiving Day will soon be here and I would like to wish you all a very happy and safe Thanksgiving Day. If you don’t live in the U.S., you can still celebrate with us. It’s another opportunity for everyone to think of the things we are grateful for and to give thanks. Thanksgiving is a beautiful thing both for the giver and the receiver, because in it the receiver acknowledges the goodness of the giver, and the giver feels appreciated and is encouraged to do more.

During this time, as usual, there’s so much talk about “giving thanks” but no one really talks about “who we’re giving thanks to?” Yes, in one way or another, we all are givers and receivers and so should give and receive thanks. But really, all the thanksgiving from everyone, who does it go to? I believe the ultimate thanksgiving should go to Our Almighty Father who is the Giver of all that is good. He’s the One who has given you the family for which you are grateful. That dream job, the new car, the new baby or the negative test result on a biopsy all come from him.

We don’t have a problem with giving thanks for good and nice things, but I’ll ask you not forget those ‘not so wonderful things’ we’d rather not talk about. This is because they don’t happen unless God has willed them to. That miscarriage, your miserly uncle or the mean brother-in-law you prefer not to deal with all come from Him. If we believe God is all good and is capable of turning our sad news into good news, then we’ll give thanks in good times and in bad times, basically at all times and in everything, just like we’ve been asked to do.

This year, while we go about thanksgiving, remember who your thanksgiving goes to, and thank Him for EVERYTHING. I’d be giving my thanks to God The Almighty Father, through Jesus Christ, His Son, for the beautiful things in my life and those I’d rather not have.

I’d like to share this cute song my kindergartener learnt at school. I know it’d put a smile on faces.

TURKEY TURKEY

(Sing to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)

Turkey, turkey look at you,

Please be careful what you do.

Thanksgiving Day will soon be here,

We eat turkey every year.

Go and hide out in the woods,

We’ll eat pizza as we should.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
